Kindergartners created their soft textured baby owls after we read Owl Babies. Students used their prior knowledge of cutting "rounded shapes" for the eyes and learned how to fold and cut the beak.

Second Grade Nature Up-Close
Second Grade students created a setting full of foliage after looking at work by Rousseau and reading Keith Baker's book Who's the Beast. Students learned about the parts of insect bodies and created their insect with symmetrical wings.

First Graders Catching Radial Designs
First Grade students traced their hands for their mittens and printed radial designs for their snowflakes.
Rouault Royalty
Second Graders learned about Georges Rouault and reviewed the Fauves before creating themselves as Royalty.
Monet
First Graders learned about Monet and the Impressionists. They created their Monet "like" painting by sponge painting pastels, then painting an everyday event.
First Grade Sunflowers
First Graders created their still life using finger paint paper for petals, symmetrical vases and chalk pastels.
Why the Sun and the Moon are in the Sky?
Fourth Grade students created their Sun and Moon after we read an African folktale. Students used Warm and Cool colors and their knowledge about applying chalk pastels.
Using their prior knowledge, some students chose to create their Sun and Moon in a "Picasso like" manner.
