Kindergarten Texture Bears

 Kindergartners learned about texture and how artists create the appearance of texture.
 The students made crayon rubbings for their bear fur. After listening to the Old Bear, they tore the paper to create their bear.
Last, the students created a setting for their textured bear.

Second Grade Indian Elephants

 Second Graders looked at images of Indian Elephants from the International Folk Art Museum. We read the story Elephant Dance, a story about a boy and his grandfather from India. We looked at pictures of the various regions of India before painting the setting. Students learned to draw an elephant, sponge painted the skin and created a patterned blanket.

Third Grade Treehouses

 Third Grade students learned about the Canadian artist, Emily Carr before painting their sky. They used different shades of green for their Foreground, Middle Ground and Background.
 Students looked at artwork with trees by several artists. Each artist expressed the tree form in a different way. They learned to paint trees, then constructed a special tree house.

Kindergarten Happy and Sad Faces

 Kindergarten students created mono-print faces, then transformed 
their symmetrical images into a happy and sad faces.

First Grade Eric Carle Fish

 First Graders created painted papers after viewing Eric Carle's website and discussing his illustrations. They printed a school of fish, learned about the parts of fish, and created a fish with the correct parts using a variety of painted papers.

Fourth Grade Personal Collages

 Fourth Graders learned about artists who created work that were personal statements about their lives. They looked at work by Romare Bearden and created collages that were about their own lives using a variety of textural papers.
